MMRDA has assigned it to them as it was preliminary to be used for. In this case, we first used the Shivteertha (because the Shiv Sainiks referred to it as Shivaji Park), and therefore we should get quick permission to make use of it.”
However, Shinde's followers stated that they were an agency to hold their gathering in Shivaji Park. Some additional leaders and elected representatives from Shiv Sena are expected to be part of Shinde there. Sheetal Mahatri, former partner and spokesperson for Eknath Shinde Group stated: “We are still formally learning (regarding the BKC floor allocation)…now we have been informed that they have accepted our message.” “However we want to preserve it in Shivaji Park. Historically, the Dussehra Rally takes place in Shivaji Park. Therefore, our first choice is Shivaji Park,” Mahatri said.
Former Thane Mayor Naresh Mask, who was with Shinde, stated that while they used BKC lands, they wished to hold their event in Shivaji Park. “Even when BKC lands are allotted to us, we need to maintain our congregation at Shivaji Park,” he added.
