Gaming peripherals company SteelSeries has launched the Apex 9 range of keyboards packed with responsive gaming experience designed for enthusiastic gamers. New boards – consisting of Apex 9 TKL keyless and 60% Apex 9 Mini – use light switches. With next-generation OptiPoint optical switches, all-new keyboards use light optical sensors to detect keystrokes, providing a faster response time than mechanical switches. In response to SteelSeries, these switches operate with a fast response time of 0.2ms, which the company claims is 33% faster than the fastest optical keyboard on the market.
It is often the choice of mechanical or optical keyboards that decide whether or not you need tactile typing expertise, or cool hotkeys to engage in aggressive video games. With the latest SteelSeries keyboards, you'll be able to have all of them. Rich in customization options, the SteelSeries GG software lets you choose from a 1mm or 1.5mm actuation level, even at a per-key pitch. Moreover, it helps interchangeable switches, along with Linear, Tactile and Clicky. After all, you can also tweak the RGB lighting as you see fit.
